Singing lessons with Derick Ellis

Derick Ellis is a tenor who started his voice training with Karin Bradfield in 1992. From here he moved on to study voice at the Hochschüle fur Musik, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. He then continued his studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, USA with Prof. B.H. Moore. After this he performed professionally as a tenor in principle roles such as Rodolfo in La Boheme, Alfredo in La Traviata, Ismaele in Nabucco, Sam in Susannah, Arbace in Idomeneo, Walter von der Vogelweider in Tannhäuser and many more. Appearing in more than 30 productions and having sung more than 400 concerts and recitals he continues to entertain audiences with favourites from the Opera and Musicals. Songs such as Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera, Nessun Dorma from Puccini’s Turandot, La donna e mobile from Verdi’s Rigoletto, Dein ist mein Ganzes Herz(You are my heart’s delight) by Franz Lehar, Love Story, O Sole mio, Torna a Surriento, Granada and many more. He is regarded as a tenor who can be ranked among the best in the world. Darren Keith woods, a panel member of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York and Director of Fort Worth Opera, was quoted saying, “In 2007 we learnt of the sad passing of Luciano Pavarotti, but I believe that the possible replacement for this great tenor will be Derick Ellis..” After having sung in countries such as United States of Amercia, England, Germany, Austria, South Africa and China, he has now returned to South Africa to share his love for singing with you.
